About Us

Teamwork Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization which manages the basketball program known as the "New York Gauchos", founded 43 years ago as an adjunct of the Westside YMCA by Louis d' Almeida, an advertising executive who had come as a young man from Argentina to seek education in the United States. He later found that education at Yale University.

Teamwork Foundation, located in the Bronx, has been providing high quality after-school and summer programs to inner city boys and girls for over 40 years! To date our programs have reached more than 15000 kids. Nearly 80% of our program graduates have received at least one year of college tuition, for free. This is a success rate unequaled by any other privately funded program involving inner city children..

Teamwork Foundation's education through competitive basketball model continues to provide enormous opportunities for inner city kids who aspire to pursue a college degree. Our alumni have graced the professional ranks of the NBA and WNBA. They can be seen playing collegiate basketball for the country's most recognized universities and colleges. More importantly, they have survived the trials and tribulations of the inner city and have achieved success.

All of our success could not be accomplished without the support of our generous sponsors. We are thankful for their support. All proceeds will provide crucial funding needed to maintain our building. No funds received through this event directly benefit program participants or their parents.
